Transfer news: Inter Milan resigned to missing out on Tottenham winger Erik Lamela

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio does not believe there is any chance that Tottenham Hotspur will let Erik Lamela go this summer, while the Italian club have no interest in Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.

Lamela has been linked with a move back to Serie A following a disappointing first season at White Hart Lane, having previously made his name for Roma.

Inter have made their admiration for the player clear in the past, but Ausilio says that Lamela remains a key part of Spurs’ plans under new boss Mauricio Pochettino.

In the same way that Inter have ruled out a departure for their talented young midfielder Mateo Kovacic, Ausilio does not expect Tottenham to change their stance on Lamela.

He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Lamela is a dream that has no chance of becoming true because Tottenham don't want to put him on the market, just like we did when someone came to ask about Kovacic, who is absolutely not for sale.”

Inter are now set to turn their attention elsewhere and have been linked with a move for Manchester United’s Hernandez, but Ausilio says they are looking for a different type of player and are keeping their eyes on Parma winger Jonathan Biabiany and Cagliari’s Victor Ibarbo.

He explained: “Chicharito Hernandez? He hasn't the characteristics of the player we're looking for.

“We like Ibarbo and Biabiany, while there was nothing about Pablo Daniel Osvaldo."
