Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel praised the contribution of opposite number Tim Krul after Newcastle United claimed a surprise 1-0 win at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Krul, 25, made a string of superb saves to keep Spurs at bay after Loic Remy had given the visiting side the lead in the 13th minute.
And Friedel, who made his 450th Premier League appearance in the match after regular keeper Hugo Lloris failed to recover from a concussion suffered at Everton last Sunday, was highly impressed by the Holland international.
"Krul was outstanding today," said Friedel. "We were very poor, to our standards, in the first half but we still carved out two or three decent chances and he made two great saves in the first half.
"In the second half there were consequences of balls just hitting him or him making great saves, and it's a day that he'll remember I'm sure.
"As a goalkeeper we've all had them. He's had one here so he is going to go home feeling a million dollars, that's for sure."
Krul was pleased with his own performance and was delighted to see his side record a second successive league victory after beating Chelsea 2-0 at St James' Park last weekend.
"I'm over the moon," he said. "It is a great confidence boost for everybody. We had a major disappointment losing the derby against Sunderland but the response has been amazing from us. We have two home games coming up now so hopefully we can kick on."
In contrast, Tottenham winger Andros Townsend was disappointed with his side's defeat, but has backed them to improve as the club's new signings fully settle into the squad.
Spurs invested heavily in the summer - backed partly by the money from the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid - bringing in the likes of Erik Lamela, Paulinho, Christian Eriksen and Roberto Soldado.
"We are a relatively new side, we are a young side and we are still getting to know each other and learn each other's games," said Townsend. "Goals will come I'm sure of it - hopefully sooner rather than later."
