Michael Dawson insists the Tottenham squad have not been affected by the speculation surrounding Gareth Bale's future.
Bale's future at White Hart Lane has dominated the headlines this summer with Real Madrid openly pursing the Welshman's signature.
The transfer saga is expected to go right until the close of the transfer window, but Dawson claims the rest of the squad are unfazed by the issue.
"To be fair Gareth missed quite a lot of it [pre-season] through injury so when you are injured you feel a little bit left out like I did a few years ago, but as players you concentrate on what you are doing on a daily basis and that's all you can do," Dawson told Sky Sports News.
"Gareth is a top player, the season he had last year he is going to attract speculation.
"The manager has said he's staying, the chairman has also, so for us as players we can't concentrate on that we just keep our heads down and as team work hard."
Spurs skipper Dawson has been impressed by the club's new signings and he hopes the likes of Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Nacer Chadli and Etienne Capoue can take them to the next level.
"We are improving we have brought in Roberto [Soldadao], Nacer [Chadli], Paulinho," added Dawson.
"Bringing in players like that can only make our squad better than it already is so I am looking forward to playing with them and hopefully they can take us to the next level.
"We are certainly having a go, you can never stand still in the Premier League teams keep improving and it is great to see we are doing the same and making some big signings."
