Roma have confirmed the departure of director general Franco Baldini, who is being strongly linked with a move to Tottenham.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly keen to see Baldini installed at White Hart Lane and now he is free to make the move after parting company with Roma.
"We thank Franco Baldini for his service to AS Roma over the past two seasons," declared President James Pallotta.
"He played an important role in the launch of our project. We wish him well in his future endeavors."
Director of sport Walter Sabatini will be in charge of transfer negotiations for Roma.
On his departure, Baldini, who worked as England assistant manager during Fabio Capello's spell in charge, said "I want to thank the owners of AS Roma for the opportunity that was given to me.
"I was very happy at Roma and wish the club, players and fans all the best."
