Tottenham's Lewis Holtby has been confirmed as Germany Under-21s captain for the UEFA European U21 Championship.
The 22-year-old Spurs midfielder is one of only two players in Rainer Adrion's squad to ply his trade outside of his homeland. The other is former Everton defender Shkodran Mustafi, who joined Sampdoria on a free transfer from the Toffees last summer.
Adrion has initially named a 25-man party for the tournament in Israel, where his U21 side will take on holders Spain, the Netherlands and Russia in Group B.
However, defender Jan Kirchhoff (groin) and midfielder Tolgay Arslan (knee) are both expected to drop out due to injuries before the 23-man squad has to be confirmed on 27 May.
