Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas remains cautious ahead of Thursday's Europa League quarter-final first leg against Basel at White Hart Lane.

The Londoners play host to the Swiss club having narrowly ousted Inter on away goals despite a 4-1 defeat at the San Siro - and Villas-Boas is focused on keeping a clean sheet at home once again.

The Portuguese said: "At this point in the competition every team dreams of winning it. Everyone wants to lift that trophy.

"Basel were knocked out in the CL play-off, they're a team that have played well in Europe, especially recently.

"Our experience versus Inter will be good for us long term, it shows no advantage gives you safety. We learnt a lesson. We want to play well and avoid giving them any away goals.

"These ties are difficult and unpredictable. We are in a good state of mind and confident. Basel will also be confident. They put out tough teams as we have in this competition."

Villas-Boas revealed that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and Clint Dempsey will be available for the clash, adding: "Hugo is back in training and so is Clint. Tom Carroll is out and Jermain (Defoe) is out too. He will miss two games definitely."
