Milton Keynes Dons manager Karl Robinson has reiterated his doubts over signing winger David Bentley on a permanent deal in January.

The 28-year-old is currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur at Russian club Rostov until January and is unlikely to return to White Hart Lane for the remainder of the season.

Bentley has not featured for Spurs since November 2010, playing on loan for Birmingham City and West Ham United in the subsequent years.

A number of clubs, both in England and abroad, are reported to be interested in the former Arsenal man, MK Dons being among them.

However, Robinson, who is good friends with Bentley from their time together at Blackburn Rovers, says that they do not have the money to fund his transfer.

"We have not spent much money over the summer, but at the same time we are very happy with the squad I have assembled at the club and have a lot of confidence in the players here," he told Sky Sports.

"We have not got anything left in the tank to bring in further additions, though.

"I would love to have David Bentley at this football club because he is a player whom I admire very much.

"Rob Segal is both our agents and I speak to David all the time and he knows how highly I rate him as a footballer, but it would be very difficult to see David play his football outside the Premier League.

"With all due respect to our football club, I don't feel that David should be playing at this sort of level."
