Spurs defender had other offers after joining Greek club on loan

Bongani Khumalo is looking forward to making an impact at PAOK after confirming he has joined the Greek club on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. The South African defender has yet to make a first-team appearance for Spurs since moving to White Hart Lane from SuperSport United in January 2011. He has previously taken in loan spells with Preston North End and Reading, and will spend the upcoming campaign with PAOK. The 25-year-old says he was wanted by several clubs, but is confident he has made the right choice in PAOK, who faced Spurs in the Europa League last season.

Ambitions

"I am very happy to be here," Khumalo told reporters following his arrival in Greece. "I know that I have come to a club with thousands of fans. I want to help the team to reach their targets. "I was on holidays when I received the call from my agent who told me about PAOK and other Greek clubs who showed interest. Panathinaikos also wanted to sign me in the past. "I chose PAOK because I believe that we can do something really good next season. I saw them playing last year against Tottenham and I knew that they are a club with ambitions in the European competitions."
