Croatian defender leaves Tottenham after four-year stay

Lokomotiv Moscow have announced the signing of Vedran Corluka on a three-year contract from Tottenham. The 26-year-old will link up with his erstwhile Croatia national team boss Slaven Bilic, who has been named as Lokomotiv's new manager. Corluka spent four seasons at Spurs after initially moving to the Premier League to play for Manchester City in 2007. But the former Dinamo Zagreb defender fell out of favour at White Hart Lane and spent the latter half of last season on loan at Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. Although surplus to requirements at Spurs, he kept his place in the Croatia team for Euro 2012 and Lokomotiv chief scout Kirill Kotov evidently regards the signing as a coup for the Russian side. "Vedran is one of the leaders of the Croatian national team," Lokomotiv's transfer chief told the club's official website. "This is a versatile defender of the highest class."
