Defender keen to sort out his future

Sebastien Bassong will seek talks with Harry Redknapp to clarify his future at Tottenham before the start of next season. Bassong, 25, was reinvigorated by his loan spell at Wolves but despite his efforts, the Midland's club were unable to avoid the drop. Next season will be Bassong's fourth at White Hart Lane after his arrival from Newcastle in an £8 million deal in 2009, and he wants to ensure his career path at the club is clearly outlined. "I will be speaking to the gaffer at the beginning of the pre-season - we all need a holiday," Bassong told skysports.com. "I was playing week-in and week-out at Wolves and personally, it was something I really enjoyed, being part of the game.

Solution

"So now, I have to speak to him and find a solution. I have two years left on my contract, so it's not a matter of urgency." Nevertheless, the Cameroon international retains an open mind about his future and as he approaches his peak years, his only desire is to satisfy his craving for regular 90 minutes playing time. He added: "We will look for something that both parties are happy with, and if I have to stay at Tottenham, I will be delighted too because I love this team. "However, if I have to find a way out I will deal with it- that's football. But ultimately, I want to be playing football, I've tasted it for the last three months and feel I deserve it."
