Spurs boss admits playmaker's future is in chairman's hands

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp concedes he is unsure how close Luka Modric is to signing a new White Hart Lane contract. The north Londoners reportedly offered the Croatia international new and improved terms last September in the wake of Chelsea's failed move for his services. Modric is tied to Spurs until the summer of 2016 having signed a six-year contract in May 2010 and they are keen to reward him with a new deal. When quizzed about the latest on Modric's contract talks, Redknapp admitted the whole process is in the hands of chairman Daniel Levy. "It's up to the chairman," explained Redknapp, who is unsure how the negotiations are progressing, in The Times. "We were going to tie him down when Chelsea came in and the chairman was talking about getting him [a new deal], but where it is at I don't know."
