William Gallas and Sandro are facing spells on the sidelines after suffering calf tears in the victory over West Brom on Tuesday, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed.
The Tottenham boss admitted earlier that he could be forced to dip into the transfer market this month with the duo now heading for the White Hart Lane treatment table.
Brazilian midfielder Sandro was forced out of the action against the Baggies with just half an hour gone, while experienced French centre-back Gallas limped out of the action in the 67th minute.
Jermain Defoe scored the only goal of the game to keep Spurs in the title hunt, six points adrift of Manchester City and three behind Manchester United, with a game in hand on both.
But Redknapp will be without two key men for the coming weeks, with the veteran tactician still unsure when they will be available for selection once again.
"They both have tears," Redknapp said. "It's difficult to know how long they will be out for."
Fears
Redknapp revealed his concerns having seen both players hobble off either side of Defoe's match-winning strike, and his fears have now been realised after scans confirmed the suspicions of the club's doctors.
Already shorn of injured trio Scott Parker, Ledley King and Aaron Lennon, Redknapp watched in dismay as he lost the pair, while Sandro's replacement Jake Livermore was also forced off late on with a knock.
Transfer Latest
Will Harry Redknapp be looking to strengthen the squad in January? Gary Cahill is 6/1 to sign for Tottenham, Luuk De Jong 3/1 and Torres 10/1. See all markets here.
Livermore is a doubt for Saturday's FA Cup tie against Cheltenham after splitting his lip in a clash of heads with team-mate Younes Kaboul, while Gallas and Sandro look set for lengthy spells on the sidelines.
Calf tears can take months to heal and in the aftermath of Tuesday's game Redknapp said: "Sandro I think tore a calf so that will be a long one. It looks like Gallas has as well. He felt it go."
This weekend's cup tie will at least give Redknapp the opportunity to patch up the likes of Parker and Livermore ahead of next Wednesday's Premier League clash with Everton.
The match, postponed from the first weekend of the season due to the riots in London, could see Spurs draw level with second-placed United and pull to within three points of leaders City.
