Wing worry for Tottenham

Harry Redknapp fears Aaron Lennon could be sidelined for several weeks, while Gareth Bale is battling to be fit to face Chelsea.

Bale may be fit to face Chelsea, but Lennon out with hamstring injury

Harry Redknapp fears Aaron Lennon could be sidelined for several weeks, while Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Gareth Bale is battling to be fit for Thursday's game against Chelsea. Bale sat out Sunday's 1-0 win over Sunderland after spraining his ankle in training, while Lennon was forced off during the first half at White Hart Lane. Wales international Bale has yet to be ruled out of the visit of London rivals Chelsea, but fellow winger Lennon is definitely missing due to a hamstring injury. Redknapp is waiting to learn the extent of the problem, although the Spurs boss is optimistic Jermain Defoe will return from a hamstring injury of his own to be available to face Chelsea. "Bale has sprained his ankle," said Redknapp. "He just did it in training. "He thought it was okay, then he went home, had a little rest and couldn't put any weight on it. "Lennon has got no chance for Thursday. It'll be weeks if it's a tear. "There's every chance Defoe will be fit. He's only got a grade one tear and he's desperate to play, the little fella'."
