Bongani Khumalo believes his switch to Championship outfit Preston is just the right move for him.

Loan signing hopes to bring winning mentality to Preston

New loan signing Bongani Khumalo believes his switch to Championship strugglers Preston is just the right move for him. The centre-back made a temporary move to Phil Brown's basement boys from Tottenham, before the emergency loan window closed last week. And Khumalo hopes he can make an instant impact at rock-bottom North End, who are eight points from safety, when they tackle high flying Swansea on Saturday.

Mentality

Khumalo, 24, who cost Spurs £1.5million in January told The Sun: "I was fortunate to win three titles in a row in South Africa. "I want to bring that kind of winning mentality to Preston. That spirit of being champions. "I haven't had much luck at Tottenham in terms of game time. But it's been amazing to be around that atmosphere and that vibe with the quarter-finals coming up. "I've learned so much and I want to put everything I have picked up into practice here. I've also played at the highest level at the World Cup. I want to be confident, be a leader from the back and inspire the team here."
Exciting
Meanwhile, Deepdale boss Brown believes the loan deal is one of the club's most exciting signings since David Beckham. He said: "To get South Africa's future captain is almost like going back to the David Beckham days. "It shows what we are capable of at a club which, in some people's eyes, is supposedly down and out."
