Ipswich Town have allowed Andros Townsend to return to Tottenham Hotspur midway through his loan spell at Portman Road.

The winger joined Ipswich on a season-long loan in August and he had made 16 appearances in all competitions for Roy Keane's side.

However, after being left out of last Saturday's 3-0 victory over Leicester City, the 19-year-old's time with Ipswich has been cut short.

Keane told the club's official website: "Andros has not had the minutes on the pitch that he needs lately so he has gone back to Tottenham."

Townsend's only goal for Ipswich came in the recent 3-1 home defeat by Swansea City, while he was also sent off against Crystal Palace on only his second appearance for the club.

He has yet to make a first-team appearance for Spurs and has previously enjoyed loan spells at Yeovil Town, Leyton Orient and MK Dons.
