Darren Bent has been called into the England squad for the World Cup qualifier with Ukraine.

Cole ruled out of Ukraine clash, while Heskey and Crouch are doubts

Darren Bent has been called into the England squad for Wednesday's 2010 World Cup qualifier with Ukraine at Wembley. England coach Fabio Capello has summoned for the Tottenham striker after Emile Heskey, Carlton Cole and Peter Crouch all picked up injuries in the 4-0 friendly win over Slovakia. Heskey was substituted soon after opening the scoring and his replacement Cole was also forced off before half-time through injury. Crouch also failed to last the 90 minutes and Capello has opted to draft Bent into the squad, ahead of Michael Owen and Kevin Davies. Speaking after the game regarding who would be called up as cover, Capello said: "Michael Owen played 20 minutes in his last game, it is not enough. "And it would not be Kevin Davies either." Bent appeared as a substitute in the friendly win over Germany last November and is likely to be on the bench for the visit of Ukraine. West Ham United forward Cole has been ruled out of the game, but Capello hopes Heskey and Crouch will be fit for selection. Capello added: "Carlton Cole will not be able to play on Wednesday. Crouch will be OK I think. And Heskey will have a scan tomorrow."
