Celta Vigo midfielder Borja Oubina claims he was offered the chance to train with Tottenham Hotspur in pre-season.
Oubina is currently regaining his fitness after suffering a cruciate ligament injury on loan at Birmingham City last term.
The 26-year-old hurt his knee on his first start for Birmingham in a 0-0 draw at Liverpool back in September.
He is now close to peak condition and says that Spurs manager Juande Ramos has shown an interest during his rehabilitation period.
However, Oubina does not feel he needs to prove his ability to Ramos during a trial period with Spurs over the summer.
"It is true that Tottenham called my agent to tell him they wanted me, and offered the option of going on trial in late June or July," Oubina told Faro de Vigo.
"But from the outset I thought it was a surreal idea. My current contract is with Celta and I have nothing to prove to anybody.
"It flatters me that they think about me and have taken into account my situation and I understand that they want to see me before [buying], but I do not know that they can assess me because, in five or ten days, not too many conclusions can be made."
