Brazilian defender sets sights on silverware

Gilberto da Silva looks set to make his Tottenham bow in Saturday's Premier League clash at Birmingham. The Brazilian left-back has been kept on the sidelines since his January move from Hertha Berlin by a calf injury. But he now looks set to come into Juande Ramos' first XI following Pascal Chimbonda's display of petulance during the Carling Cup final. The French defender reacted badly to being replaced by Ramos during the second half of Sunday's victory over Chelsea, storming straight past the bench and down the tunnel. And with Gilberto now fit to feature, Chimbonda could well find himself on the sidelines against Alex McLeish's men.

Top team

Having missed out on the Carling Cup triumph, the experienced and versatile Brazil international has set his sights on more silverware at White Hart Lane. He told The Times: "I had a muscle problem which hardly anyone knew about. "This Carling Cup victory shows why I left Hertha. "I wanted to play for a top team who can win the title."
