Gardner focus on Spurs

Anthony Gardner insists he has no plans to listen to the transfer rumours and quit Spurs.

Anthony Gardner insists he has no plans to listen to the transfer speculation and quit Tottenham Hotspur.

The centre-half struggled for regular football during the first half of the season, but has featured prominently in recent weeks.

During his absence from the team, Gardner had been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in order to secure more playing time.

But the defender has no qualms with his decision to sign a new contract last summer and wants to be part of a Spurs squad on the up.

"I signed a new contract at the start of the season and that was for footballing reasons," said Gardner.

"I think the club is going in the right direction. I played enough last season to warrant giving it another bash.

"My name has been touted around, but that is the way the transfer window is geared now, my name has been linked because I haven't been playing regularly.

"But my focus has been on Tottenham and doing my best if called upon.

"This team can go very far, there is immense talent in the squad. When we turn it on we have the ability to challenge anybody."
