Robbo happy with defence

Paul Robinson feels Tottenham have tremendous defensive options.

Paul Robinson feels Tottenham have the defensive strength needed to help them climb the Premiership table.

Martin Jol's charges made a stuttering start to the season, but they have lost just once since September and are within striking distance of the top four.

England keeper Robinson has been impressed with the defensive options available to Jol and feels a strong backbone can benefit Spurs this term.

"We've got strength across the back four positions," Robinson told the club's website.

"We've got a good back four and good squad players as well."

Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Pascal Chimbonda have made the full-back slots their own, but Paul Stalteri, Lee Young-pyo and Phil Ifil are pushing hard and Robinson is happy to see competition for places.

"We've got Calum Davenport and Tony Gardner to come in the middle, young Phil Ifil and Paul Stalteri at right-back and Lee Young-Pyo who can play either side," added Robinson.
