Alnwick set for Spurs

Sunderland goalkeeper Ben Alnwick could be on his way to Tottenham.

Sunderland boss Roy Keane has admitted Ben Alnwick could be on his way to Tottenham.

The 19-year-old has been a long-term target for Tottenham and they tried to sign him last summer.

Alnwick decided to stay at Sunderland and signed a new deal at The Stadium of Light in August.

However, Alnwick has lost his place in the side to Darren Ward in the last few weeks and he is unhappy at not playing regularly.

Tottenham could now be ready to do a swap deal involving Martin Fulop, who joined Sunderland on loan last week.

Spurs are ready to offer Fulop and £1 million to try and lure Alnwick to North London.

Keane is resigned to seeing Alnwick move on, claiming a deal is close to being agreed.

"Ben has been frustrated at not playing first team football recently," said Keane.

"He has been to see me a few times, so it looks as though he'll be going on his way.

"It looks as though it's a done deal, but you never say for certain in this business because there's always something that can go wrong."
