PSV Eindhoven are being tipped to beat Tottenham to the signature of NAC Breda forward Leonardo.
Reports in the English press last week suggested Spurs were close to tying up a deal to sign the Brazilian in January.
NAC played this down over the weekend, comments which have since been endorsed by the forward's agent.
"It's impossible to say Leonardo will move to London in January," the Samba star's agent Hans Coret told De Telegraaf. "He needs a Dutch passport to get such a move and this will not happen until the start of March."
The reported interest from North London is believed to have prompted the Dutch champions to come out of the woodwork.
PSV have been impressed with Leonardo's efforts this season and are reported to be ready to clinch a deal in January.
