Hull City expect to tie up the signing of Tottenham Hotspur youngster Mark Yeates later this week.
The Championship club have been trying to strike a deal for the left winger for the past couple of weeks.
A season-long loan arrangement has now been agreed between the two clubs and Yeates, who recently signed a new two-year contract at White Hart Lane, has given his consent to the move.
Tigers boss Phil Parkinson confirmed the switch is imminent, although he admits the 21-year-old will not be pressed into immediate action.
"Mark should be with us by Wednesday and that will be a year's loan deal for the remainder of the season," Parkinson told the Hull Daily Mail.
"He's only had 10 days of pre-season under his belt so far and that extra couple of weeks will do him good before he can start looking at the first team."
Yeates has made just four senior appearances for Tottenham and has previously undertaken loan spells at Brighton & Hove Albion and Swindon Town.
He also spent last term on loan at Colchester United, who were then managed by Parkinson, and the duo are primed to work together for a second successive season.
