Naybet emerges as Real target

Noureddine Naybet has emerged as a transfer target for Liga side Real Sociedad.

Tottenham defender Noureddine Naybet has emerged as a transfer target for Liga side Real Sociedad.

Naybet has slipped behind Ledley King and Michael Dawson in Martin Jol's White Hart Lane pecking order and could be available for transfer in the January window.

Sociedad are eager to bring in an experienced head at the heart of their back four and reports suggest Naybet has caught the eye of coach Jose Maria Amorrortu.

The Sociedad chief would not be drawn on his January defensive target, but did say: "We need a little bit of experience in that position."

Real are sat in mid-table in the Primera Liga and Amorrortu is eager to spark a charge towards the European places, but is aware he needs to add to his playing staff in January in order to do so.

Naybet has oodles of experience and knows what is required to flourish in Spain, having spent a large portion of his career at Deportivo La Coruna, and he could be open to the prospect of a move to Real as it would in all probability hand him the chance to secure some regular playing time.
