Norwich City boss Nigel Worthington has dismissed reports that he has made a move for Wigan Athletic defender David Wright.

The Canaries were thought to have tabled a £300,000 bid for the former Crewe Alexandra player, who has fallen down the pecking order with the Premiership new boys.

Despite the reports, Worthington stated that the links with the 25-year-old were 'totally untrue'.

He also dismissed claims that he is set to sign Tottenham Hotspur right back Philip Ifil on a season-long loan and admitted that there was not much on offer in the transfer market at present.

"We're always having a look to see what there is, but in all honesty right now there's not an awful lot out there," Worthington told the club's official website.
