Tottenham youngster Mark Yeates has agreed on a deal to play at Colchester this season.

Yeates, who has made three senior appearance for the White Hart Lane side, completed the loan deal on Thursday and is now awaiting confirmation that he can play on Saturday.

Colchester will have the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international's services for the complete season, and the Spurs man becomes manager Phil Parkinson's third summer signing.

The 20-year-old, who can play either as an attacking midfielder or as a striker, arrives at Layer Road following loan spells with Brighton and Swindon, and his arrival is sure to excite Colchester fans.

The U's will now hope that Yeates can make his debut against Gillingham on Saturday.
