Tottenham Hotspur defender Noureddine Naybet appears unlikely to play again this season after undergoing a hamstring operation.Naybet has gone under the knife following the hamstring injury he collected against Birmingham City at the start of this month.
Spurs boss Martin Jol confirmed Naybet had been dispatched for an operation to remedy the problem.
Jol admits he is uncertain when the Moroccan stopper will be fit again, hinting that Naybet would not return before the end of this campaign.
"Noureddine had to have an operation and now he will be out for a long time," commented Jol.
The 35-year-old's injury will be a major blow to Spurs' hopes of sneaking into a Uefa Cup spot before the season's conclusion.
Naybet has formed an effective partnership with Ledley King at the heart of Tottenham's defence this term and he will be missed over the closing six games.
Meanwhile, Spurs midfielder Michael Brown has undergone an operation on a tiny fracture on the top of his foot.
Brown is likely to be sidelined for around a fortnight, with Jol thankful the injury is not particularly serious.
Jol added: "It is good news on Michael Brown. It is not as bad as we thought and it is a very small hairline fracture.
"He is suspended for two games after Liverpool and we hope he will be back for our last two or three games."
