Tottenham Hotspur are set to lose out to Deportivo La Coruna for Milan defender Fabricio Coloccini.

The Argentine stopper is poised to leave the Italian champions on loan for the rest of the season, after only being a peripheral figure at San Siro this term.

Reports in Italy claimed that Spurs had joined Deportivo in the chase for Coloccini's signature.

But the centre half appears likely to sign for the Spanish side after his agent Marcelo Lombilla confirmed that negotiations were at an advanced stage.

Lombilla has met with Depor president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro and Coloccini is expected to be unveiled on Monday.

"We hope that there are no problems so that Fabricio can travel to La Coruna on Monday," said Lombilla.

"Milan do not have any money problems and they have accepted the terms of payment that have been proposed by Depor.

"They only lack small details and we hope to solve those problems so that Fabricio can come to the club."

If Coloccini seals his switch to the Riazor, it will be the fourth occasion that he has played for a club in La Liga.

Coloccini has had previous spells with Alaves, Villarreal and Atletico Madrid and is now poised to add Deportivo to his CV.
