Nourredine Naybet has remained coy over his proposed move to Tottenham but his club Deportivo La Coruna admit the transfer is all but complete.

Spurs are believed to have agreed a fee in the region of ‚é¼1 million for the 34-year-old who is expected in London on Wednesday for a medical.

The Morocco international stopper confirmed he was in talks with the North Londoners and conceded he was excited by the prospect of playing in England.

However, the rugged defender remained cautious, insisting there were still some formalities to be completed.

"I am very happy for the interest of this club (Tottenham) who are one of the biggest in England," he La Voz de Galicia.

"It (to play in English football) is a dream for anyone. After eight years here, to end my career at Tottenham would be phenomenal.

"But I say again that I have a contract with Deportivo and I will keep carrying on as normal.

"Of course it is certain they (Tottenham) are talking to the club. They have been interested in me for a month and it has come out in the English press.

"But all I'm hoping for now is to have a good season. Nothing more, because at the moment I am still under contract with Deportivo."

However, Naybet's coach at Depor Javier Irureta has already started planning for life without the player, believing his move to England is now a formality.

"He is a footballer that has nearly always played in the six years that I have been here, and the departure of a regular player is always felt," Irureta declared.

"From now on, providing everything is finalised as expected, we will try to cover his absence in the best way we can with the players that we have."
