Queens Park Rangers have signed midfielder Dean Marney on a month's loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

The versatile 19-year-old, who can also play as a defender, captained Spurs' reserve side last season and has made two first team appearances as a substitute this term.

Marney has spent time on loan with fellow Second Division side Swindon Town, where he made nine appearances for the Wiltshire club.

With injuries to Gareth Ainsworth and Kevin McLeod, QPR boss Ian Holloway was in need of cover for his midfield and Marney is likely to make his debut against fellow promotion-chasers Brighton & Hove Albion at Loftus Road on Saturday.

"He can play on the right side of midfield or at right back, he works hard and he's got a lot of quality," Holloway told the club's official website.

"He isn't getting a game at Tottenham at the moment and it's the right time for him to come here and help us out. I'm sure his arrival will give us a real boost."
