Carr issues Spurs warning

Tottenham captain Stephen Carr has warned the club he could leave White Hart Lane if they fail to meet his expectations over a new deal.

Carr has 18 months to run on his current contract, but Spurs are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal.

The Republic of Ireland international has been constantly linked with a move away from Tottenham, with Arsenal and Newcastle both believed to be monitoring his situation.

Carr is keeping his options open after having initial talks with Tottenham over a new deal.

"I'm keeping my options open until the club come and talk to me. My agent and the club have had one very small chat so far but nothing major," Carr told the London Evening Standard.

"There have been no real talks about a new deal.

"I will look at what they have to offer and, if it is right for me, then I will stay. I will have to see how things go and if they are willing to give me what I want."
