FULHAM stunned Tottenham in the all-London affair at White Hart Lane with Chris Coleman's charges recording a notable 3-0 success.

The Spurs faithful groaned as the visitors contained their attacking play admirably, and pounced on the break with a pair of strikes from Barry Hayles, and a third from Luis Boa Morte.

With Hayles the solitary striker, Fulham started stoutly with only Jamie Redknapp's vision looking capable of unlocking their defence. Instead, in the 23rd minute, Hayles beat Dean Richards and Anthony Gardner and arrowed a left-foot drive past Kasey Keller.

Spurs had their chances, with Simon Davies firing wide, Stephen Carr sending a free kick inches off target and Ledley King volleying straight at Edwin van der Sar, but only a splendid stop from Keller denied Hayles a cleverly chipped second.

Despite switching to a more attacking formation in the second period, Glenn Hoddle's side continued to struggle with Lee Clark shooting wide after a promising run. Spurs may have been threatening when the second goal really killed them off - Darren Anderton's error enabling Hayles to nip in and drill an emphatic finish past Keller.

The lively Hayles turned provider for former Arsenal man Boa Morte to compound the home side's misery during another lightning raid.

As The Cottagers prepared to work out how to celebrate their first win at Tottenham since 1948, youngster Rohan Ricketts wasted a glorious opportunity to open his senior account when van der Sar came out to block the opening in a one-on-one situation.
