Burnett fumes at officials

Image: Wayne Burnett: Blasts referee decision

Wayne Burnett blasted referee Carl Berry for sending off Andre Boucaud as Dagenham crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Portsmouth.

Boucaud was dismissed for a second bookable offence in the 62nd minute following a foul on Pompey striker Patrick Ageymang. Pompey were leading 1-0 thanks to a sublime first-half goal from James Dunne and went on to run away with the points courtesy of a Jed Wallace penalty and Andy Barcham's stoppage-time strike. But an angry Burnettt said: "I cannot legislate for the referee's decision. The sending off changed the game - it is simple as that. "I don't know what either yellow card was for. For the second one their player was 35 yards away from goal. "Everyone in the stadium was as shocked as I was when the red card came out. It is hard enough to come to Portsmouth with 11 men, let alone 10. "We dominated the game in the first half and were never in any danger. I thought it was only a matter of time until we created more chances. "The 3-0 score-line looks like we have been battered and I don't think we have. The only worry for me is the fact we conceded three goals." Pompey boss Andy Awford sympathised with Burnett over Boucaud's red card. Awford said: "I don't think it was a sending off. If you are going to book players for a challenge like that you won't have anyone left on the pitch." Pompey had lost their three previous games without scoring, and Awford added: "We needed the result and I wasn't too worried how we got it as long as we won the game "Until we scored the first goal it was pretty even and that was a great finish. We needed a moment of magic and Dunney produced it. "He showed great desire to get on the end of the ball with a 40-yard run and took it superbly. Once we scored the first goal there was only going to be one winner."
