Richie Barker was not downhearted despite Portsmouth's 1-0 defeat to York at Fratton Park.
Pompey languish just one place and three points above the drop zone, but Barker was buoyed by the chances his side created as they displayed far more cutting edge than in recent matches.
He said: "If we play like that, we should win more games than we lose. I thought the mentality of the players was fantastic.
"There were positives to be taken out of the game. I don't know what the statistics were, but up until the last 10 minutes when we pretty much threw everybody forward, we created the most chances.
"From most of the chances we had in the first half, which were pretty decent ones, we probably didn't work the keeper enough. But I felt we created more than we have done for a while.
"When we were down to 10 men, it would have been easy to go under. But the lads stuck at it and we deserved something out of the game."
