Marquis staying at Pompey

John Marquis has committed himself to Portsmouth for the remainder of his loan spell at the League Two club.

The Millwall striker's Fratton Park future was thrown into doubt after he was left out of the squad for the 3-2 win over Exeter on Saturday. But the 21-year-old insists he has no intention of returning to south London early and wants to fight for his place at Pompey. He wrote on Twitter: "Just to clear things up, I am still very much a @officalpompey player for the remainder of my loan period! "I was obviously bitterly disappointed not to be involved at the weekend, but by no means walked out in a strop & there wasn't any disagreement with the manager! "The plan was to go back @MillwallFC to talk to management & decide what was best for me! This is the reason I was seen leaving with all my belongings at the game on the weekend, just in case I didn't come back! "If selected I will always put in 100 per cent for Portsmouth's & show a professional attitude selected or not! I hope this clears a few things up!"
