Appleton looks at Gyepes & Williams

Portsmouth have taken defensive duo Gabor Gyepes and Tom Williams on trial as they weigh up moves for the pair. Former Cardiff man Gyepes and ex-Bristol City full-back Williams linked up with the Championship strugglers earlier this week. Both players are available on free transfers and Pompey boss Michael Appleton will cast an eye over them in training as he looks to add some defensive cover to his squad. "There are probably half-a-dozen trialists who have come through the building and people don't have a clue about," Appleton told the Portsmouth News. "I don't think we are in a position as a club to turn down trialists coming in and having a look at them. "We've had Tom Williams, who went to New York Red Bulls for a period of time. "He did a little bit of training out there. It didn't really happen for him so he has been training at QPR for the last month or so. "We had a look at him yesterday and will do for a few days. "Similar to Gabor, if he does enough to impress and we can do something depending on what the Football League say, then maybe there is something there. "But we're certainly not going to tie ourselves down to anyone and promise anyone anything.'
