Pini Zahavi claims to be 'a victim' of the financial turmoil at Portsmouth and accepts no responsibility for the club's current plight.
The so-called 'super agent' has been involved in the regular buying and selling of the South Coast outfit in recent years and has helped to bring players into Fratton Park on big-money contracts.
He held a lucrative scouting role at the club and was largely responsible for Avram Grant's appointment as manager in 2009.
Zahavi had strong connections with Portsmouth during their descent into monetary chaos, with the club back in administration for the second time in as many years.
He is, however, reluctant to shoulder any of the blame for their troubles, with money owed to him by the stricken Championship outfit yet to be paid.
"I was a victim at Portsmouth," Zahavi told
The Guardian.
Friendship
"Yes, I worked to bring Avram Grant and Tal Ben Haim, I had the scouting agreement and agent's fee, but I was kept waiting for money because of my friendship with the club.
"I never thought they would go into bankruptcy."
He added: "I mostly sold the players. I saved the club from bankruptcy because I managed to sell the best players."
Zahavi also claims to have presented Pompey with opportunities to bring in quality additions to help them through a tough time in the past, but saw his efforts snubbed.
He said: "I got them amazing opportunities for players but they never bought them because they did not have any money."
