Barnet forward believes he is playing the best football of his career
Barnet attacker Ricky Holmes insists he is happy with the struggling League Two outfit, despite interest from higher up the Football League.
The 24-year-old has impressed for the Bees this season, scoring six times in 19 appearances from a position just behind the two main strikers.
A number of Championship and League One clubs are thought to be monitoring Holmes' progress at Underhill, but the Bees are keen to keep hold of their prized asset when the transfer window reopens in January.
The former Chelmsford City man has also stressed he is focused on doing his best for Barnet and helping the team rise up the table following their sluggish start to the season.
Paying dividends
"Any time you are linked with big clubs it is nice to hear and it is part and parcel of football when you are playing well and scoring goals," Holmes told
skysports.com.
"I've just got to keep it up and I'm probably showing my best stuff since joining the club because it is the only real run in the team I've had as I was injured for half of last season.
"The gaffer has given me a run in the side in a position that I really enjoy, which is just behind the front men, and it is paying dividends.
"It has got to be some of the best football of my career so far because this is the highest level I've played at.
"Obviously, my best was probably at Chelmsford, but it was at a level two leagues below, so it was easier.
"For the standard and how I've been playing I'd have to say that I'm in the form of my career at the moment."
The Bees are currently unbeaten in four games and have recorded impressive recent away wins at Bristol Rovers and Cheltenham, and Holmes is delighted to see confidence creeping back in following their early season woes.
He added: "I wouldn't say confidence has always been high because it's hard to be confident when you are losing games and conceding a lot of goals.
"However, as strikers I've got six goals in 12 starts and Izale's (McLeod) the joint top scorer in the league, so both of us have got a fair bit of confidence because that is what goals give you as a striker.
"However, as a team confidence was a bit low before and that is something which we had to work on because we were in a bit of a dog fight earlier in the season.
"Thankfully, we've managed to stop the rot at the back and continued to score consistently at the other end and long may it continue."
