Bulls slam Cornell decision

Hereford director of football Gary Peters has criticised Wales for calling up David Cornell before Saturday's FA Cup tie with Yeovil.

Goalkeeper Cornell, on loan from Swansea, is part of the Wales Under-21 squad to face Armenia away next Tuesday, but the Football Association of Wales has decided to bring the selected players together earlier, meaning they will not be available for their respective clubs this weekend. Peters told Hereford's official website: "Over the weekend when he would be playing for us, he's on a walking tour of the hills of somewhere or other, which is ridiculous. He's not actually playing but they're taking him away from us. "You try talking to Brian Flynn, the Wales Under-21 coach, and common sense is not part of the job description. They (the Welsh FA) don't mind what they do, they don't mind who they hurt, they're just bothered about 'can't do it', not allowed to, he's got to come with us'. Someone like Brian Flynn should know better, he's been a League manager himself, they're just being ignorant." Peters added: "As it's an FA Cup game, clubs in League One and Two won't lend us anyone and Premier League clubs still don't want their goalkeepers cup-tied. Some of the keepers from non-league, which we might have a chance with, a lot of those are cup-tied. So at the moment we've got no keeper." Meanwhile, Hereford have confirmed the departure of veteran defender Andy Todd, 37, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at Edgar Street. The former Bolton and Blackburn man arrived on non-contract terms in the middle of October and made four appearances for the Bulls.
