Baggies defender determined to dislodge Jones
Nicky Shorey is prepared to fight for a first-team recall at West Brom, with makeshift left-back Billy Jones currently blocking his path.
The former England international has seen Roy Hodgson favour Jones in the Baggies' last three fixtures.
Shorey was originally dropped after seeing his standards slip during a difficult run of results for the club.
Since turning to Jones, West Brom have picked up six points and now find themselves sat in mid-table.
Deserved
Hodgson will be reluctant to tinker with his starting XI after seeing performances improve, but Shorey is determined to prove to his manager that he is a more natural fit at full-back.
"Whether I thought it was the right decision or not, it's got a couple of good results and hopefully I will get another chance," Shorey told the
Express and Star.
"Billy has been working hard in training and deserved a chance.
"It's always disappointing for me when I see a right-footed player in my position at left-back. It doesn't sit well with me, but he's done well."
