Notts County manager Martin Allen has defended his decision to sell striker Craig Westcarr to League One rivals Chesterfield.
Allen allowed Westcarr to move to the Spireites in a £70,000 deal late last month after the forward had only been a bit-part player in the early weeks of the new season.
The sale has been criticised by some Magpies supporters, but Allen has explained the offer was too tempting for the club to turn down.
"The offer for Craig Westcarr was a good one," said Allen in the
Nottingham Evening Post.
"People have been moaning and I've had letters asking why we sold him. He wasn't in our team, God bless him. He wasn't playing, so £70,000 was a great offer and it was dealt with.
"The fella who runs this club (Ray Trew) is not Sheikh Mansour (the owner of Manchester City) so he asked me about the offer and it was a good one to take, that's it.
"Did I lose any sleep or start crying? No, I didn't and I'm not going to. We will get on with it."
