Carl Dickinson is prepared to continue playing through the pain in an effort to aid Portsmouth's cause.
The defender, who is on loan at Fratton Park from Stoke, is currently nursing a knee problem.
It has been suggested that the injury will require surgery, forcing Dickinson on to the sidelines.
He is, however, determined to play on and delay an operation for as long as possible.
The 23-year-old was a surprise inclusion in Steve Cotterill's squad for Saturday's 1-1 draw with Derby and the Pompey boss hopes Dickinson will remain in his plans for some time yet.
He said: "Carl has been to see Stoke's surgeon.
"We think, at some stage, there may be something that needs to be done. But, in the meantime, the surgeon doesn't want to touch the knee, so we'll wait and see."
