Portsmouth are interested in signing Tyrone Mears from Burnley, skysports.com understands.
The 27-year-old has been at Turf Moor since 2009 when he joined from Marseille.
Pompey are looking to bolster their squad and have made an offer to Burnley to land the Jamaican international.
However, new Burnley boss Eddie Howe is still assessing his squad and is believed to have shunned their initial approach.
Mears has 18 months left on his current deal with the Lancashire outfit.
