Experienced stopper pens deal until end of campaign

Iceland defender Hermann Hreidarsson has signed a new Portsmouth deal until the end of the season. The 36-year-old's contract expired at the end of the last campaign following Pompey's relegation from the Premier League, and he was not offered new terms as he battled an Achilles injury. Hreidarsson has recently returned to full fitness and has now put pen to paper on a new contract with the cash-strapped South Coast outfit. "I'm delighted to have signed again for such a great club where I have had a fantastic time," he told the club's official website. "It's great to be fit again and I can't wait to get out there and pull on a blue shirt again." Chief executive David Lampitt added: "Hermann is a legend and embodies everything great about this club. We're delighted to have him back and available."
