Paris Cowan Hall has left Grimsby and returned to parent club Portsmouth after contracting glandular fever.

The 19-year-old midfielder was due to be on loan with the League Two strugglers until the start of February.

He is set to miss at least three weeks because of the illness.

The teenager is yet to break into the first-team fold at Fratton Park since joining the club from Rushden & Diamonds in 2007.
