Linvoy Primus is delighted Portsmouth are keen to offer him a role at the club once he hangs up his boots.
The 35-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, has missed the whole season through injury.
Primus made 10 Championship appearances while on loan with Charlton earlier in the season, but has failed to play for Pompey since returning to the club at the back end of last year.
However, chief executive Peter Storrie has lifted Primus' spirits by stating the club would be willing to offer him an ambassadorial position at Fratton Park.
The former Reading and Brentford defender admits talks have begun over his future, although he thinks the club will look to finalise their top-flight status before confirming anything.

"We're working on things at the moment," Primus told
The News. "I want to be here long term.
"Things are changing in my life and I'm getting older. But I want to be around the club still.
"Once we're safe things will be sorted out. I'm sure that I will be here in some way.
"It was good to hear Peter say he wants to arrange something, but you don't know things are finalised until you see them on paper. It was nice for him to say that.
"I don't want to go elsewhere now. I'm here for life, whether I play here or live here."
