Spaniards favourites to land Greek

Theofanis Gekas looks set to leave Bayer Leverkusen, and a host of Premier League clubs are said to be interested. Spanish side Espanyol are leading the chase for the Greek international but there is also interest from England. Stoke, Portsmouth and Sunderland are all believed to be keeping tabs on the 28-year-old, who is set to leave Bayer before Monday's window closes. Gekas joined Leverkusen in 2007, but he is now set to be sold in order to make room for Eren Dergiyok - who is to join from FC Basel. "We have received an offer from Espanyol. Yet we have no agreement over the transfer fee, but this might still happen. I am not discussing figures publicly," said Bayer director Wolfgang Holzhauser.

Kiraly

Meanwhile, Bayer have also signed Burnley reserve goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly. The Hungarian international knows German football very well having spent a number of years at Hertha Berlin - before he switched to England. Kiraly will act as understudy to Rene Adler at Leverkusen.
