Redknapp still considering Lopez

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he will not be pursuing his interest in Celestine Babayaro. The Nigerian has been training with the Pompey squad this summer in a bid to earn a deal at Fratton Park. The former Chelsea and Newcastle defender is currently without a club following a brief spell with Los Angeles Galaxy earlier in the year. Redknapp is looking for a new left-back but he has ruled out a permanent move for Babayaro. However, the Pompey boss has yet to decide on the future of fellow trialist Jordi Lopez. The former Real Madrid midfielder featured in the pre-season friendly victory over Gosport Borough on Tuesday night and will stay with the club until the end of the week. "Unfortunately Babayaro is not what I need, so there won't be anything going there," Redknapp told The News.

Undecided

"I am not sure about Jordi at the moment, though. We've had him here this week and you can see he's a decent player. "He's played for Real Madrid so you must have something about you and by all accounts he did okay at Gosport the other night. "He's still here. We're just having at look at him so we'll wait and see what happens. "The lad's a good player though. We'll take it from there really."
