Portsmouth will complete the signing of Tottenham's Younes Kaboul on Monday, the South Coast club have confirmed.
Kaboul has snubbed both Aston Villa and Sunderland to link-up with Harry Redknapp's men.
The 22-year-old central defender will have a medical on Monday before sealing his £5million move.
A Pompey spokesman confirmed the deal was set to be finalised.
"On Monday, Younes Kaboul will be at the club for a medical," said the Pompey spokesman after the team's Community Shield defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.
"After long discussions we agreed personal terms on Friday and if all goes well, he will sign on Monday."
Redknapp's assistant Joe Jordan admitted the deal was something the club have been looking to finalise for a while.
"He's a player the manager set his sights on very early," said Jordan.
"He's been looked at by a number of clubs, but he wanted to come to us. He was influenced by the presence of Harry Redknapp and the players here who can help him develop.
"He's a player that wants to progress. Lassana Diarra came here from Arsenal because he wanted to play regular football, and he's flourished.
"Kaboul wants to come here and do that as well."
