Austrian defender makes Championship switch

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Johannes Ertl for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old becomes Neil Warnock's third signing of the summer, joining fellow new recruits Nick Carle and Paddy McCarthy at Selhurst Park. The utility player joins the Eagles from Austria Vienna and has agreed a two-year deal with the club. Ertl began his career with SK Sturm Graz and went on to make over 60 appearances for their first team. He moved to Vienna in 2006 and made 50 appearances prior to his release at the end of last season. The versatile Ertl, who is equally at home in midfield as he is at the back, he is a full international for Austria and has been capped seven times by his country.
